Land Rover Developing Vehicle Communication for Autononomus Off-Roading

Land Rover Developing Vehicle Communication for Autononomus Off-Roading. Recently we revealed that JLR is working on developing autonomous vehicle technology and overhead clearance assistance. Jaguar-Land Rover has teamed up with Cohda Wireless connected vehicle systems to research how autonomous cars could drive over any surface or terrain or in difficult weather conditions. The project has utilized the Wireless MK5 On-Board Units, software stacks, and applications for its V2X (vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure).

To better demonstrate this connection, Land Rover connected two Range Rover Sports together using Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) to create an Off-Road Connected Convoy. The video below shows how the two vehicles can communicate and instantly share information such as location, wheel-slip, changes to suspension height and wheel articulation, as well as All-Terrain Progress Control and Terrain Response settings between the two vehicles.
