Is There a Land Rover Pickup?
Is There a Land Rover Pickup? Recent reports have shared that a Land Rover Pickup could be available by 2020. We’ve reported on the Land Rover Defender before sharing, “Land Rover is celebrating is 70th anniversary with a limited-edition high-performance version of the Defender, re-engineered to utilize a 5.0-liter petroleum V8 that gets an impressive 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds and top speed of 106mph and a powertrain. Only 150 Defenders will be provided by this limited run. This model pays homage to the early high-powered engines in both the Series III Stage 1 V8 from 1979 and subsequent Defenders including the 50th Anniversary Edition, which are highly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors today.”
If rumors by Autocar are to be taken into account then a Land Rover Defender pick up truck may be available in 2020. Although no sources are given, the story has been picked up by five different automotive reporting sites. Autocar writes, “The pick-up will be based around the longer-wheelbase Defender. It is most likely to be offered as a single-cab variant, offering a similar payload to a Navara, because it would be easier to adapt the Defender’s platform to a single-cab format than a double-cab.” The Drive, who also reported on the rumor reached out to Land Rover but were told they could not comment on any future plans.
