The Range Rover Sport has been Land Rover’s best-selling model since 2006. But many people don’t really know or understand what that means.

Even the most die-hard car enthusiasts get confused about the Land Rover lineup. To help you get started, we are going to explain the Land Rover lineup and what each model has to offer.

So which model is right for you and your family?

There are “Two Brands”

Land Rover and Range Rover are two different brand images that fall under the same family umbrella. Many people get confused by the two different names and whether or not they are the same vehicles or not.

Consumers tend to look at Range Rover as the luxury, up-scale brand. Land Rover is the more affordable option.

The Small Models

Two models fall into this category, the Range Rover Evoque and the Discovery Sport. Both of the models use the same powertrain and have similar body dimensions.

The Evoque is a stylish lifestyle model. Where the Discovery Sport is better suited for the buyer looking for a functional model.

The Discovery Sport is a bit larger and comes with an available third-row seat.

The 2020 Evoque will come with an optional infotainment system that is also seen in the Velar. It also has a bigger and more luxurious interior than the previous generation. One significant difference is the noticeable increase in rear-seat legroom.

When it comes to performance, the Evoque won’t disappoint with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is turbocharged. This new model is also the first to offer a 48-volt semi hybrid system that pumps out 300 horsepower while also providing increased fuel economy.

Land Over got it right with the second generation of the Evoque. It is the perfect combination of features, off-road ability, and utility.

You’ll notice that the inside of the Discovery is outfitted in luxurious soft-touch materials. The styling of the dash is reminiscent of the Range Rover.

One big standout is the amount of cargo space this SUV has. At 43.5 feet, it is significantly larger than any other model in its class of luxury SUVs.

The technology abounds in the Discovery with the inclusion of Land Rover InControl Touch Pro infotainment system. This includes Bluetooth, 10-speaker stereo, Wi-Fi hot spot, navigation, and a 10-inch touchscreen.

As for performance, the Discovery comes with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine and 8-speed automatic. You’ll have 340 horsepower to get you around. There is also an optional turbodiesel that gives you 254 horsepower.

The Midsize Models

The Discovery is the perfect SUV for the family that is looking for a practical three-row SUV. It has a sizable interior so everyone will feel comfortable as you race from one after school activity to another.

The Velar is similar in size but doesn’t offer the third-row seating. It takes the Discovery and adds luxury and class to the SUV. Many car shoppers consider the Velar to be the better looking of the two SUVs.

At the top of the midsize category is the Sport. This model is meant to combine the practicality of the Discovery with the beautiful looks of the Velar. It also comes with the three-row seating of the Discovery.

As we mentioned, you have options when it comes to the number of seats. But it goes further than that. You also have the option of heated and ventilated seats, power adjustability, heated rear seats, leather upholstery, and heated steering wheel.

The sport comes with an upgraded infotainment system from the old InControl system to the new Touch Pro Dup system. Included with it are two 10-inch touch screens, eight speakers, Bluetooth, USB, satellite radio, HD radio, and eight speakers.

For performance, your Sport can be a 340 horsepower V6, turbodiesel, plug-in hybrid, or a powerful V8. This means there is a powertrain system for any driving situation and need.

The Velar’s interior brings you spacious comfort with five seats. There are nice touches, such as a panoramic sunroof. The base model comes with synthetic leather, but you can easily upgrade to first-class leather.

There is a minimalist approach to the interior that gives the dash a clean look with its dual touch screens and available adaptive driver display.
